| Synopsis:
In AD 922, Arab courtier Ahmad Ibn Fadlan accompanies a party of
Vikings to the barbaric North. Ibn Fadlan is appalled by the Vikings
customs-- their wanton sexuality, their disregard for cleanliness,
their cold-blooded human sacrifices. And then he learns the horrifying
truth: he has been enlisted to combat a terror that slaughters the
Vikings and devours their flesh. |
| Arab
courtier Ahmad Ibn Fadlan is sent to the barbaric north as an
emissary, because he fell in love with the wrong woman. In AD 922,
this usually meant goodbye forever. Shortly after the party ran into
exploring Vikings and befriended them, a young boy reaches the camp to
call the warriors home: The Wendol, creatures of the Mist, have
started attacking their homeland, killing and eating everyone in their
way. The oracle forces a thirteenth warrior to accompany the Vikings,
but this must not be a man from the north. Ahmad Ibn Fadlan, who
quickly is nicknamed Eban, first does not feel comfortable with the
strange men of the north, but when he finds out that the Wendol really
exist, he bravely fights alongside the Vikings in a battle that can't

| Synopsis:
An unusually principled young Viking becomes
increasing uncomfortable with all the killing and plundering that goes
with the job, and sets out on a magical journey in order to bring
about world peace. Former Monty Python member Terry Jones attempts to
have his story of Erik's seemingly hopeless quest operate as both
witty, lunatic satire and sincere children's fantasy. However, despite
a good cast and some interesting design elements, the film fails to
completely succeed at either of its goals. |

| Synopsis:
A Viking-themed adventure. Iron
(Cameron Mitchell) is a Viking leader whose long-lost brother Erik
(Giorgio Ardisson) was raised by Queen Alice of England. Alice's
counselor, Gunnar (Andrea Checchi) betrays her and helps the Vikings
take over, while the shipwrecked Erik is nursed back to health by
Rama (Alice Kessleri), the twin sister of Iron's wife Daja (Ellen
Kessleri). Naturally, Erik returns home and must fight Iron and
defeat Gunnar in order to save the country. It doesn't quite work
out that way, however, as the ruthless counselor kills Iron, leading
the Vikings and British to join forces with Erik and take Gunnar
down. |

Synopsis:

| In this epic
historical drama, set in the 10th century, a young Christian man is
sent by his Scandinavian superiors to Iceland to assist in the
conversion of that island to Christianity. Young Askur is deeply in
love with Embla, but he must leave for the remote realm of Iceland on
his mission before he can come back and make her his wife. There is
much bad blood between those who follow the old ways and those who
follow the new, and a strong arm on the side of the Christians is
warmly welcomed. This production drew on talent and funding from all
over Scandinavia and by local standards was a phenomenally expensive
picture, costing around $7 million dollars to make; it did not repay

The script of the film is
as faithful to the original saga as possible. It gives a realistic
picture of the society in wich Gísli lived and the customs of old
iceland: the hars laws of vendetta, the family ties, and the heroic
spirit cherished by the men who died in battle would enjoy the
afterlife Vallhalla had to offer.
The characteristics are much evidence in Gisli Sursson, the main
character of “The Outlaw”, he is presented to the audience in the
context of his times. Nevertheless he is a human and intelligible to
us today. The viking sagas and particulary “The Outlaw” have for
century’s played a large role in icelands culture and society.
Filmed in 1981, and directed by Agus Gudmundsson, wich allso wrote
the script from the anchient saga, and shot on a tight budget, this
film has been used ever since it was first puplished in 1981 as an
educational material in icelandic schools. |
