| 7th Voyage of Sinbad,
The (1957) |
| Credits:
Directed by Nathan Juran. Written by
Ken Kolb. When Sindbad (Kerwin Mathews), Produced by Charles Schneer. |
| Synopsis:
When Sindbad and his men land on
the island Colossa they are confronted with man-eating cyclops. They
escape with the help of the magician Sokurah (Torin Thatcher) and his
magic lamp. The lamp, which contains a helpful if sad-eyed djinn named
Baronni (Richard Eyer), is unfortunately lost. Back in Bagdad the
magician demonstrates his powers and asks the Caliph (Alec Mango) to
fund an expedition back to Colossa to bringing the lamp back into his
possession. When the Caliph rejects his request, Sokurah breaks into
the rooms of the Princess Parisa (Kathryn Grant) at night and shrinks
her to the size of an elf. The magician then offers his abilities to
heal the princess. Unfortunately, one of the ingredients necessary (a
roc’s eggshell) must be procured from the island Colossa first. So
Sindbad sails again to the island Colossa and to the dangers awaiting
him there: a snake-woman, a dragon, a roc chick and a sword-wielding
skeleton. The princess must be restored in time for her marriage to
take place or it’s war…

| "THE IMP OF EVIL" |
| Sometimes looks can
be deceiving. Aboard the NIMBUS, SINBAD and company reel in the anchor
and are surprised to find a mysterious chest attached. Upon opening
the chest, out pops an adorable little imp. To their delight, he
charms them with astonishing magic tricks. But not everyone thinks
he's harmless, particularly KULAK and SORAYA. And as fast as you can
say "abbra kadabbra", the crafty imp turns into an evil whirlwind of
destruction. |

hit SORAYA's home village and SINBAD enlists the aid of a great white
shark to help him stop it. After sailing to SORAYA's home TANOORA,

named MOLITORR. An astronomer himself, MOLITORR is planning to change
the course of a planetoid whereby it plunges into the sea creating a
giant wave of dangerous water! |

Sinbad Jr. (1965) TV series |
| Credits:
Mel Blanc as Salty the Parrott (voice) + Tim Matheson as Sinbad Jr.
(voice) |
| Synopsis:
This series chronicled the adventures of Sinbad Jr., the son of the
famed seafarer, Sinbad. Joined by his first mate Salty, a talking
parrot (voiced by Mel Blanc) who provided comic relief, Sinbad Jr.
(voiced by Tim Matthieson, the original voice of Hanna-Barbera's Jonny
Quest), became superhuman through the use of his magic belt. Sinbad
Jr., the Sailor was originally titled The Adventures of Sinbad, Jr.
and produced for American International Television by Sam Singer, who
had produced 1957's The Adventures of Pow Wow, a very limited animated
cartoon for CBS-TV's Captain Kangaroo series. In an effort to increase
the quality of the animation, production of the 1965 syndicated
cartoons was taken over by Hanna-Barbera. It was renamed Sinbad Jr.,
the Sailor out of deference to the 1962 Toei Studios feature length
cartoon, Adventures of Sinbad. |

Sinbad Jr. is, of course,
the young son of the famous Sinbad the Sailor. When Jr. tightens up
his belt, not only does his chest get bigger and his waist smaller,
but he also gains the strength of fifty men! Aided with his
smart-aleck pet parrot Salty, Jr. would thwart the plans of the evil
Rotcoddam (read it backwards). Summary written by Mike Konczewski |
